First Vice Prime Minister of Georgia Dimitri Kumsishvili meets with SDSU Georgia students

On April 20, 2018 the First Vice-Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Mr. Dimitri Kumsishvili met with SDSU Georgia students at Fabrika in Tbilisi. Kumsishvili spoke about the Georgian government's vision for developing its national economy that includes ongoing and future structural and institutional reforms. The minister also discussed the course of the Georgian economy in the context of global events and focused on Georgia's cooperation with international financial, research and state organizations.

The discussion highlighted government programs aimed at supporting business and innovative ideas. Further emphasis was placed on the initiative "Produce in Georgia" and other programs that support startups and innovative ideas. After the presentation, students participated in a question and answer session with the minister. The event was attended by MCA CEO Magda Magradze, MCC Georgia Resident Country Director Jenner Edelman, SDSU Georgia Dean Halil Güven and other distinguished guests from Georgia and the U.S.

Dimitri Kumsishvili was appointed as the First Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development on November 13, 2017. Since November 2012, he has served in notable positions in the Georgian government, including terms as First Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Tbilisi Vice Mayor, and Minister of Finance.
