Environmental and Social Safeguard Specialist

Since July, 2015 Kety Chubabria works in the position of Environmental and Social Safeguard Specialist of San Diego State University of Georgia managing environmental, social, occupational health and safety performance during construction/renovation and operation phases.  Her main duties and obligations are: Development of Environmental and Social Management Plans (ESMP) and monitoring compliance with environmental regulations and procedures; Development of Health and Safety plan (HSP) and monitoring compliance with health and safety procedures; Development of Stakeholder Engagement Plan for rehabilitation phase and monitoring of it’s implementation; Managing the preparation of lab operations manuals, safety manuals, emergency preparedness and response plans, waste management plans, and resource efficiency plans etc.

Kety has almost 20 years of working experience in the field of environment, occupational health and safety. She has worked on international and national high profile projects. She was a member of BP Exploration LTD team from 2011 to 2015. She took part in implementation of Samtskhe-Javakheti Road Rehabilitation Project finance by the first Compact of Millennium Challenge Corporation. Her diverse working experience covers working at Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources Protection, she held a position of Head of Project Coordination Department during September, 2008 – October, 2009.

Kety is ISO 14001 Auditor and accredited member of ISO ESM team and associated member of Institute of Environmental Management Assessment (IEMA). She holds master’s degree in European Spatial Planning and Regional Development from Bleking Institute of Technology of Karlsrona, Sweden. During 2005-2008 Kety won the scholarships from the following institutions: Scholarship of Swedish Institute SIDA; Fellowship of Canadian Bureau for International Education; Moody International; Chevening Scholarship; Scholarship from Technical University of Dresden and scholarship from Jyvãskylã (finland) University.
